Neatly stacked seasoned firewood delivered to a Louisville, KY driveway
If you have a wood-burning fireplace, a wood stove, or an outdoor fire pit that gets real use, the quality of the wood you're burning matters a lot. Green wood barely burns, produces a lot of smoke, and cakes creosote in your chimney. Properly seasoned wood lights easy, burns hot, and burns clean. Peek Lawn Care sells seasoned oak, cherry, and hickory firewood, delivered across Louisville. Split, dry, ready to burn. ## What we deliver - **Oak** — the workhorse. Dense, burns long, produces steady heat. The best choice for a fireplace or wood stove that's your primary source of ambiance or heat. - **Cherry** — burns cleaner and slightly cooler than oak, with a great smell. Nice for fireplaces where the aroma matters as much as the heat. - **Hickory** — dense and high heat output. Also great for smoking meats if you have a smoker or grill that uses hardwood. All three are proper hardwoods — no mixed pine, no scrap, no partially seasoned filler. ## What "seasoned" means (and why it matters) Seasoned firewood has been split, stacked, and dried long enough that its moisture content drops from ~50% (fresh green wood) to under 20%. That's the difference between: - **Green wood:** heavy, hard to light, smoky, produces less heat, and cakes creosote in your chimney — a real fire risk over time. - **Seasoned wood:** lighter, lights easy, burns hot and clean, produces good coals, minimal smoke. The tell is weight and cracks in the end grain. Seasoned wood is noticeably lighter than green wood of the same size, and the cross-section usually shows radial cracks from the drying process. ## Delivery details - **Standard delivery is a clean drop** in your driveway or a spot you designate. Most homeowners want to stack it themselves. - **Stacking is available** for an additional charge — tell us where and how. - **Volume:** we deliver by the cord (128 cubic feet, stacked) or half-cord. For most casual users, a half-cord is plenty for a Louisville winter. For heavier use, plan on a full cord or more. - **Delivery area:** the same Louisville East End we serve for other work, plus most of the surrounding neighborhoods. ## When to order The best time to buy firewood is late summer or early fall — before the first cold snap when demand surges. If you wait until November or December, you're competing with everyone else who forgot to buy wood in September, and inventory tightens up. Ordering in August or September also gives you time to stack it properly and let it fully finish seasoning if you want to burn it later in the winter. That said, we do keep inventory through the winter and can deliver mid-season for clients who run out. ## Get in touch To order a delivery or ask about current pricing and availability, [contact us](/contact-us/) or call [(502) 762-8817](tel:+15027628817). We'll let you know current species availability and schedule the delivery. Firewood is a lightly seasonal service for us — we ramp it up in the fall and continue through winter alongside [snow removal](/services/snow-removal/) and off-season yard work.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of wood do you sell?
Seasoned oak, cherry, and hickory. All three are excellent for fireplaces, wood stoves, and outdoor fire pits. Oak burns long and hot, cherry burns clean with a great smell, and hickory is dense with high heat output. We can do a single species or a mixed load depending on preference.
What does 'seasoned' actually mean?
Seasoned firewood has been split and dried for long enough that its moisture content is low enough to burn cleanly — usually a year or more, ideally. Green (unseasoned) wood is much heavier, harder to light, produces more smoke and creosote, and puts out far less heat. Ours is properly seasoned before delivery.
How much wood is a delivery?
We deliver by the cord (128 cubic feet, stacked) or half-cord. For most Louisville households burning wood casually — occasional fires in the fireplace or fire pit — a half-cord lasts a season. For regular wood stove or fireplace use, plan on a full cord or more per winter.
Do you stack it or dump it?
Default delivery is a clean drop in your driveway. Stacking is available for an additional charge — tell us where you want it stacked and how you want it arranged (single row, double row, off the ground on a pallet, etc.).
